Borough Engineer, P. Joseph Lehman, Inc., Consulting Engineers, began design for replacement flood walls in April of 1997. Once the $700,000 construction funds were obtained and other obstacles conquered, construction began to replace the flood walls washed away by the January 19, 1996 flood. Severe flooding has plagued the Borough of Hyndman for years. The new flood walls, utilizing twin steel beams concreted 5 feet into rock, rock anchor tie-backs concreted 10 feet into rock and pre-cast reinforced concrete panels, are a welcomed addition for many borough residents. |
